Do You Want Your Kids To Be Better Than You?
Every parent wants their kids to have a 'better life' than they had. But what does this look like in real life? Parents can say things like 'I hope my kids grow up to be happy and healthy,' but both happiness and healthiness leave a lot of room for interpretation.
A wise man once told me that when you have goals, if they aren't measurable, they are worthless. So why should the goals and aspirations parents have for their kids be any different?
When I'm old and grey, I hope to be able to look back upon my life and see that my kids have turned out better than I have. To help me during my time of reflection, I've created a list easily answerable questions.
- Does either of my daughters currently list our address as their permanent address? - If the answer is no, it shows that I've taught my daughters to be their own person, and spread their wings. However, the answer will most definitely be no, because when they're old enough, they're on their own!
- Have my daughters either been married only once, or not at all? - If yes, this means that I've shown them how to make good decisions, and what a good husband looks like.
- Do my daughters give to those in need continually (every day)? - If yes, I've taught them not to be selfish, and even though they're both princesses, the world doesn't revolve around them.
- Are my kids doing what they love to do? - If yes, it means I've shown them that it's not all about chasing the money.
- Do they believe that Jesus died to save them? - If they get this, and believe it wholeheartedly, the rest of the list will fall into place.
Looks like I have an easy road ahead. After all, there are only five things on my list.
What does your list look like?

Even if I was just going by the last question on your list, my kids would already be a lot further ahead than I was at their ages. And I'm talking about my 2 and 4 year old.. :)
From all the times that I feel that I can be a screw up for a father, I know that I'm at least doing that part right..
Have a great day..
I'd say that's doing a very big part right.

Thanks for stopping by. Not that I know a lot about photography, but in my opinion, you're a very talented photographer!
I want my kids to do way better than me in life. I just don't want them to be taller than me :)
As long as my kids aren't bigger than me, and can't easily beat me up until I'm relatively old and frail, I'm good to go.
