announcement
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to take a few swings in a big league ballpark?
A unique opportunity floated my way this week that I thought I would pass along. SIDS Resources out of St. Louis is offering the opportunity to step up to the plate and take 6 swings in Bush Stadium. In return they ask for a $50 donation.
As a lifelong baseball fan who grew up watching and playing baseball, this would be quite the experience. So if you're in the St. Louis area, check it out.
The killer combo of my schedule, the Petri dish that is public transportation, and the changing seasons has struck. I'm a bit under the weather and in no state of mind to be witty, talk about poop, or document the latest adventures of Princess P and Special K.
So, in lieu of a "real" post, I'd like to let you know what's coming up on SimpleFather.com.
First, I've started some early work on an eBook, and I'm pretty sure you're gonna want to read it, so stay tuned. Also, there will be some better (and more) reviews, which apparently I better tell you if I was paid for, or lose 11k that I don't have. Perhaps I'll even give away a few of the items that are going to be reviewed.
- I will write about what I know. This will change and grow over time, as it should… otherwise I am just taking up space on this planet. But what I know is living with 3 females (2 under the age of 5). I also know a bit about computers/technology, but that won't be the main focus.
- I will NOT knowingly regurgitate info from other blogs. If there is one thing I hate about blogs, it's the fact that I can visit multiple blogs only to find out they contain the exact same stories.
- I will NOT give up for at least 1 year. Communities take time to grow, and you should know up front that this one will not disappear or get stagnant.
- I will NOT proclaim to be the expert on anything.
It seems that everyone blogs these days, except for me. Well… today that changes. The tipping point from hate to love in my sordid relationship with blogging was the result of one elevator ride. In this elevator I made what I like to call a 15 second friend, and that friend was Kalyn of Kalyn's Kitchen. In our short time together, I found out that she was a teacher who liked to cook, but ultimately "didn't know what she was doing" when it came to blogging. She was going to retire soon, and start writing about food full time.
After we parted ways I realized that could be me (minus the whole cooking thing). I used to love writing, but always found myself drawn to technology. For that reason, I became a programmer and left writing far behind. After many failed 'side hustles,' I've decided to heed some advice I recently heard to do whatever you want to, and if you're passionate, the money will follow.
So, for the first time, I'm diving into something where if the money starts coming in, so be it… but that is not my motivation. Welcome to Simple Father, after all... everyone blogs.
